Programme Overview
BA (Hons) Business and Management aims to develop reflexive, innovative, entrepreneurial and creative managers and leaders. The course focuses on professional and personal development from a range of perspectives including contemporary areas of marketing in a digital world; the role of managers in the operations and quality process of business; management learning and professional development; developing problem solving decision makers at all levels of a business; and opportunities for creative, innovative and entrepreneurial skills development. The course is a mixture of experiential learning and developing knowledge in terms of the role, function and influence of managers and leaders in a changing business world.
This degree is for those who wish to:
- Develop an understanding of organisations, their management and the changing international business environment
- Think logically and in a structured way about the subject
- Apply theory from a number of business-related areas and critically analyse a range of vocational business problems and issues
- Develop a number of key intellectual and transferable skills which will enhance their lifelong learning skills and make them increasingly independent in their learning style
- Be able to contribute effectively in a range of operational and/or strategic contexts in business on completion of the programme
Structure of the Programme
The focus throughout this course is on innovative teaching and learning by doing and reflecting. One technique is problem-based learning, where you’ll work within a small team to explore issues or decide how to manage a situation. This helps you to dissect, challenge and debate issues. Other learning techniques include company visits, guest speakers and cutting-edge e-learning technologies. These are in addition to a combination of lectures, seminars, debates, tutorials and workshops. Your progress will be assessed by coursework, assessed case studies and business simulations, presentations, reports, essays, tests and time-constrained assessments.
